When you are on the hunt…

When you are on the hunt for a distance learning curriculum one  of the first things one should do is be familiar with the state’s distance learning policy. Knowing what is allowable as far as counting/tracking student contact time will help programs determine internal processes and procedures. For example, does your state do a lesson competency based method of tracking student time? I know IL and MN do that. Or does your state require a curriculum that has a method of tracking student time built in? Does your state allow you to count email and phone time with at-a-distance students? These are things that one needs to be aware of during the early stages of distance learning planning.
